On my walk one morning, I found these berries that had fallen from a tree. I have no idea what they are, but I liked them, so decided to draw them in my sketchbook.
Here’s another page based on the wonderful ideas of Vicky Papaioannou. My old guitar really did teach me to sing a love song. My husband was my guitar teacher when I first met him!
I’ve been watching art journal videos on YouTube. One of my favorite artists is Vicky Papaioannou. I like the way she explains what she does and also lists all the materials she uses, along with links to them for easy shopping. She has so many great ideas. This page is based on one of her wonderful ideas.
One of my favorite places in the world is Cambria on the central coast of California. Staying at Moonstone Beach, walking along the boardwalk early in the morning watching the fog gently lift from the ocean waves, and visiting the Cambria Pines Lodge Gardens are all things I love to do. This is a sketch of a lovely little birdhouse in that garden.
Our search for the elusive California poppy fields near Palmdale, CA has been the source of many a good laugh. After spending about two hours driving to the poppy reserve one afternoon, we climbed the steep hill anticipating the view from the top. We envisioned beautiful, everlasting fields of orange and yellow poppies disappearing into the horizon . Well, after huffing and puffing our way up the hill, we actually viewed valley full of brownish greenery and a few wild flowers, but no poppies! I guess when the attendant at the pay gate pointed to the small bunch of poppies in the parking lot and said, “That’s about as as good as it gets, ma’am.” He wasn’t kidding!
When we remodeled our kitchen many years ago, I wanted a garden window above the kitchen sink. It is one of the best investments we ever made! I love the bright morning sun that welcomes every new day through it!
