#44 – Surprise Party and Drawing Basics

It has been a while since I last blogged, and actually since I had time to work in my journal. I spent the past two months planning a surprise birthday party for my husband. The party was last Sunday, and it was great. Hubby was surprised and everyone had a great time! Then we had house guests for a week and we played tour guide for them. And finally, I’ve got time to draw again.

I’ve started another class with Koosje Koene, Just Draw It, and I will be starting Sketchbook Skool with Danny Gregory and four other teachers at the end of this week. I can’t wait! These online classes are great because I can fit them into my time schedule however it works for me. And, I’m meeting a wonderful community of people from all over the world who also love art journaling.

So, here are a few drawings that I’ve been working on. These are practice sketches on the drawing basics of cross-hatching, blending, and rendering.

#38 – Just Make Art

I found this sweet little girl online, and sketched her. Then I found the quote by Andy Warhol and somehow decided that it belonged with the little girl. I had lots of fun with the background: watercolor washes, drops of alcohol, journaling lines made with masking tape, and more watercolor. I just played with my supplies and made some art.
