Art Journaling #1 – New Year, New Crafts, New Me

It has been a long time since I posted anything to my blog. 2013 unfortunately sent me to the hospital multiple time, including two major surgeries. But now, I’m revived, re-energized and raring to go. While I was recuperating I began following a dream I’ve had ever since I was a child. I am learning to draw and watercolor. I’ve started an art journal, and am keeping track of my improvements over time.

I began my personal drawing education by watching drawing and painting videos for free on YouTube. It is amazing all that you can learn simply by watching someone else practice their craft. From there, I subscribed to the Artist’s Network, where I can stream hundreds of drawing and painting video lessons. I’m learning so much from them all.

My latest adventure is an online Art Journaling class taught by Koosje Koene from the Netherlands. I think there are about 15 to 20 people in the class. We’re scattered all over the globe, from the Netherlands to Australia, Brazil, and the United States. I’m having such fun seeing all their work as well as posting my own. Here is my first post for class. The quote is from Koosje’s first lesson.

I had to laugh after I finished the drawing when I realized that I had stamped the wrong date on it. I re-read the quote, crossed out the old date and re stamped it with the correct one. Perfectly imperfect–It’s done!
